Backpacking through the piney woods near Three Creek Lake

For more hiking, after finishing your circuit of Little Three Creek Lake, at 2.3 miles you’ll be back to Driftwood Campground road; go right to continue on the trail around Three Creek Lake. This larger lake is very appealing for swimming; and the sandy lakeshore is easily accessible from the trail. Big trees make this portion of the trail especially attractive on a hot day. The trail climbs well above the lake, crossing side creeks on log bridges. At 3 miles the trail ends at Three Creek Lake Campground; follow the gravel campground road 0.5 mile back to where you started. You’ll pass a small store with canoe rentals near the lake’s boat ramp; according to its sign, the store offers “Lotsa boats, few groceries, sum tackle, plenty bait.”
